TAG

I was tagged by Rachel to tell about my husband/marriage... so here ya go!

What is your husband's name? John Vincent

How long have you been married? 10 years in September

Who eats more sweets? Me

Who said I love you first? Me

How old is he? 30

Who is taller? depends if I'm wearing tall shoes or not- we're actually the same height- but I still say I'm taller...and of course he disagrees

Who is smarter? He's street smart and I'm book smart

Who can sing better? Me- but I love it when he tries! :)

Who can dance better? I'd like to think its me...but we both pretty much stink!

Who pays the bills? I do

Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? he does

Who mows the lawn? Usually me- I like doing yard work- gives me time to think away from the kiddies...kids and spinning metal blades don't go that well together, you know! :)

Who cooks dinner? 90% of the time its John

Who drives? He does

Who kissed who first? I kissed him - caught him way off guard!

Who asked who out? Nobody ever really officially asked - we both broke up with our then current significant other a few weeks after meeting and have been together since. He did, however, ask my older brother for permission to date me... if that counts. (John and my brother were good friends and he didn't want to cross any lines.)

Who has more siblings? Me; I have two and he has one

Who wears the pants? I do- and John freely admits it although we both do our fair share. It may be he's just letting me think I wear them...but either way it works!

Who is more stubborn? me...hands down!

Who proposed to whom?
Neither of us- but I definitely implied there be a wedding

Who has more friends?
That's a toss up... we are both pretty much homebodies

Whose parents do you see the most? hmmm- that's another toss up- we see both of our parents pretty regularly.

Who is the most sensitive? probably me...I mean I'm more vocal about my feelings

Who is more romantic? hmmmm- I'd have to think about that one...neither one of us really are- and that's ok

Who is more spontaneous? probably me

Who is the most humorous? probably me- I like to laugh and make people laugh

Who is the first to admit they're wrong? HA! We're never wrong...at least we'd never admit it out loud!

Friday FUNNIES!!!!

Corynn is learning so much right now- and catches on to stuff really quickly. We're working on spelling and sounding out letter sounds right now because she really wants to work on reading. Sometimes she'll ask how to spell the word- other times she'll just try and spell it. Like if you say "Oh- look there's a cat." She say "C_A_T!"

Well- yesterday was a very hellish day...just alot of little things added onto some underlying family issues and I was tired, cranky and frustrated. The girls and I were getting ready to go to Achievement Days- something happened and in frustration and anger, I inadvertently said the "sh*&" its awful - I KNOW. Its wrong just saying it- and unacceptable to say it front of the kids. I felt bad immediately after I said it. Corynn then quickly chimes in "S_H_*_&"

I was mortified! Smart little bugger- she is!

Needless to say- point taken! Mom needs to watch what she says! :)

Testing the waters

There was no school on Monday for LPS elementary- so I had the twins (age 9), Pucca (5), Thunder (2) and Kayin (11 months) all day. Its no secret that John and I would like to have another child- so I decided to take this opportunity and test the waters. Could I really handle another one? or two if it were twins again?

I planned an outing to find out. We went to the zoo about 11- but the parking lot was full! I mean FULL- there were no parking spaces and all the 'illegal curb parking' was taken as well. So we decided to go grab lunch somewhere and then try our luck again.

At lunch- I had two women come up to me and complimented me on how well the kids were. They were amazed at how quiet and well behaved everyone was. That really made me feel good- its always nice to get a pat on the back and feel like your doing a good job.

SO back to the zoo we go- and we find parking! YEAH! We spent 2 hours at the zoo- the kids had fun and everyone was really good! It was Science Day - so the older ones were able to learn about weather, chemicals, scientific method and how their heart works.

After the zoo- we came back so Kayin could nap. While she was napping, me and other four- played outside. I even got Thunder to help me pull weeds- he would get so proud of himself- it was really cute!

It was a really great day!

Kayin- lovin the stroller!

Thunder checkin out the snakes and turtles.

Can't go to the zoo without riding the train! Kayin loved it- screamed and giggled the whole way. Thunder...not so much. He held onto my hand for dear life.

OUCHHHHH!

kind of gives new meaning to 'RED/WHITE' game...

John has a HUGE blister on his ear...half my forehead is red (dang side-swept bangs) and I look like Rudolph...AND WE ONLY STAYED UNTIL HALFTIME!

Some of our friends stayed for the whole game and then went to the baseball game...double OUCH!!

But it was fun and we (the HUSKERS) looked really good! I'm super excited about the upcoming season this fall!

Monday MUNCHIES!!!!!!

Yumm- this would make the perfect brunch! And the kids would get to eat pizza for breakfast- who wouldn't like that!?

Breakfast Pizza

6 to 8 servings Prep: 25 minutes
Cook: 20 minutes

Breakfast Pizza

Ingredients

Directions

1. In a 10-inch skillet cook bacon over medium-low heat until crisp. Using a slotted spoon, remove bacon from skillet and drain on paper towels. Drain skillet, reserving about 1 tablespoon drippings in skillet. Add sweet pepper and green onion to reserved drippings; cook until tender. Drain and set aside.

2. Preheat oven to 400F. Place pizza crust on a large baking sheet; set aside. In a small bowl beat cream cheese spread with an electric mixer just until smooth. Add eggs, one at a time, beating until combined. Spread cream cheese mixture over pizza crust. Sprinkle with bacon, sweet pepper, and green onion. Top with ham.

3. Bake, uncovered, in the preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes or until cream cheese layer is set. Sprinkle with cheddar cheese. Bake for 3 to 4 minutes more or until cheese melts. To serve, use a pizza cutter to cut into wedges. Makes 6 to 8 servings.

4. *Note: If desired, use an herb-flavored cream cheese spread.

5. Tip: For quicker preparation, used cooked bacon pieces and cook sweet pepper and green onion in 1 tablespoon olive oil.

6. Shrimp Breakfast Pizza: Prepare as above, except omit bacon. Substitute red sweet pepper for green sweet pepper. Cook sweet pepper and green onion in 1 tablespoon olive oil. Substitute 1 cup coarsely chopped cooked shrimp, or two 4-ounce cans small shrimp, drained, for the ham. Substitute shredded Mexican-blend cheese for the cheddar cheese. (Or if desired, substitute one 6-ounce can crab meat, drained, flaked, and cartilage removed, for the shrimp.)

7. Mushroom-Artichoke Breakfast Pizza: Prepare as above, except omit bacon, sweet pepper, and green onion. In a 10-inch skillet cook and stir 2 cups fresh mushrooms, sliced, in 1 tablespoon olive oil over medium-high heat until golden. Substitute cooked mushrooms for the ham and add 1/2 cup marinated artichoke hearts, drained and coarsely chopped, and 1/2 cup slivered roasted red sweet pepper. Substitute shredded Italian-blend cheese for the cheddar cheese.

Friday FUNNIES!!!!

Nothing really funny happened this week- its actually been a little intense. So I googled the word 'funny' and found some pretty hilarious images! This is only one...and I tried to keep it semi-clean!

John just sent me this 'funny' and I had to add it! I just love old people!

The Silent Fart

An elderly couple was attending church services.

About halfway through, she leaned over and whispered to her husband, 'I just let out a long silent fart. What do you think I should do?'

He replied, 'Put a new battery in your hearing aid.'

Baldy McGee

This is the new nickname I call Pucca. Why you ask?

Well, here's the scoop-

She had her birthday tea party on Saturday. It was super cute and the girls were darling. One of the gifts she received was a Barbie doll with a hair braider gun. A gun that will twist and braid your hair and the barbie's hair.

Here's a pic of Pucca when she got it...

If you look closely at the package you can see the braider gun.

I told her it was a toy that could only be done with mom's help etc etc. Well- after the party she decided to go play with it with out telling us... and this is what happened...

YEP- it completely ripped out two chunks of her hair. (Have I ever mentioned how much I hate Barbies?)

She didn't even tell us- probably because she knew she wasn't supposed to be playing with it unsupervised.

I went to come her hair and get her ready for a friend's bday party later that day and started FREAKING out when I noticed the bald spot! Poor thing! She felt so guilty, sad and I'm sure hurt (it had to be painful)!

Needless to say- that toy went away...far away... to a landfill somewhere. And baldy mcgee will be sporting side pony tails to cover the bald spot. Who'd have ever thought a 5 year old would need a comb-over?

And the color is....

Did you really think I would color my hair purple? Well- at this age I wouldn't - at least not on purpose!

Here's my new cut and color:

blond highlights... I left it on a little too long- so some are white.

An angle cut- short in back and angled longer towards the front

side view- of course I put in some layers too!

Front view...

I haven't had time to style it yet or play with it enough to see what all I can do with it. I just thought it would be something new- so we'll see!

Friday FUNNIES!!!!

YEP- I'm at it again...hair color...I think I'm addicted! hmmmmm

Now the real question is...what color are the highlights going to be....there was the suggestion to do purple...did I really do it... I was leaning towards red... or did I stick with old stand by of blonde...????...you'll just have to wait and see!

Its all about the shuffle!

Corynn used to constantly ask me for my ipod- so she could listen to 'her' music. And don't even get me started on the fights we would have in the car about what cd or station to listen too.

Here's a pic of Pucca - she fell asleep one night with it on.

As a carpooling/taxi-driving supermama- I decided this is one stresser I just don't need- especially when its in the morning- arguments seem to ruin my day!

So my solution to this problem...get the girls their own ipod shuffles. And they are on a serious discount since the ipod touches came out.

The girls have tons of primary songs on their shuffles too. Nothing against 'Once there was Snowman' - but you can only sing or listen to it so many times a day!

Let me tell you- our drives to GI, Omaha and Davey- have never been so quiet and peaceful! shhhhhhhh! Don't tell the girls that it was really a gift for mom! :)

CoCo Key

The family spent the weekend in Omaha. It was John's parents anniversary (40 YEARS!!!!!) and John's brother and sister-in-law had a little family party for them. It was also Corynn's birthday- so we celebrated that too.

The kids had a total BLAST swimming at the CoCo Key water resort! Its pretty nice- not sure of the prices or anything- but the kids had alot of fun and really enjoyed it! It would definitely make a nice family weekend get away in the winter! Something for all ages...

Here's Corynn blowing out her 'candles' at the hotel pool! Our rooms weren't quite ready- so we threw an impromptu poolside party! The girls helped make the cake the night before...its supposed to be a castle if you can't tell! :)

Here are the girls and their cousin...in the pool...of course! I'm missing a picture of the little cousin- he's 7 months old...he was even in the pool...they all LOVED it! Thanks grandma and grandpa!

Swimming is the perfect thing to 'tire out' the young'ins! Here's a pic of the ride home

Monday MUNCHIES!!!!!!

I was forwarded this recipe from someone and she's pleased to announce its only 1 point on weight-watchers (if that's your thing!)

Yummy Pumpkin Cake

1 box of Spice cake mix
1 can of pumpkin pie filling
1 handful chocolate chips

Do not add the eggs, oil or water that the cake mix asks for- just the can of pumpkin and chocolate chips. Bake according to the box.

Easy and yummy!

Our spring break

Here are some of the highlights from our week at Camp Davey:

blowing bubbles- Emma loves biting them!

Jumping on the trampoline (our daily exercise along with walking in the pasture)

Checking our blue bird houses for nests or intruders...the first four were empty and the fifth had a blue bird nest!

And then there was the general goofiness...we had a funny face making contest at dinner one night- too funny! I don't think John and I had to try to hard :)

It was a fun week! Can't wait for summer vacation...only 8 more weeks!!!
